Environmental Vandalism

Rincon del Paseo, Monterrey

As soon as vegetation is destroyed, erosion starts.

What's the small white structure? Is it the house of some eccentric who lives up here?

It's more likely to be the "sales office" for land developers who come here to buy huge chunks of land and make their fortunes by building houses on them.

In this view you can clearly see the massive erosion caused by the developers. The water washes the soil and gravel down the mountain -

and into the roads, gardens, and houses of people living below.

You can see gravel and stones 'dancing' in the streams of water pouring downhill, when it rains heavily.

From the top of the hill wecan see an area of outstanding natural beauty -

sacriced on the greed of property developers and 'revolutionary cronies'.

All this land is owned privately - usually it was given away to generals and amigos of generals who fought in the revolution.
